Matt Thomas (Sempai)

Matt began his training at Progressive Martial Arts in 2007, and quickly positioned himself as one of the most dedicated students in the academy. His friendly down-to-earth personality makes him a very good training partner and his attention to detail has turned him into a great instructor. You can find Matt leading the Kickboxing classes at PMA, or in any of the Phase or Brazilian Jiu Jitsu classes at PMA.

Matt grew up playing sports, but after graduating college he was looking for an activity that he could continue throughout his life that would help him grow as a person. When he's not on the mat, you can find Matt working at Fort Sanders Regional Hospital, hanging out with his family at Norris Lake, hiking in the Smoky Mountains and Gatlinburg (where he grew up), or just spending time with his wife, Crystal, and their two dogs.

Matt holds a BSN (Nursing) through the University of Tennessee.
